Duffy Classic Electric Boat Information

We offer information about Duffy Classic boats based upon our experience owning, maintaining
and improving an 18' 2002 model. Most Duffy boats of this era use the same technology and
components.
It is up to you to determine if this information applies to your boat.
What is a Duffy Classic?
Classic boats were made before 2008, when the propulsion system was redesigned. They have a traditional propeller shaft and propeller driven by an electric motor via a belt and pulley system. The operator's console is in the center of the boat and covers the motor.
From 2008 on, Duffy changed to a propulsion system of their own design called
The Duffy Power Rudderâ„¢
. This system transmits power vertically to a
propeller and rudder assembly, similar to how an outboard motor works. This change improves
steering and allowed the operator's console to be moved to the starboard side.
